Good Neighbor Policy
We want to let the community know that we are taking action to be considerate of the needs of our neighbors.
Premises
- While it is true that safety and operational imperatives will always govern pilot decisions; we are operating within the construct of sharing this soundspace with our neighbors and will take action to minimize our sound footprint.
- Certain hours of the day, days of the week, and special days of the year require special consideration.
Recommended procedures for pilots
1. Apply smooth power changes to minimize the sound impact.
2. Maintain Vy until pattern altitude, or until 2,000 feet if departing the area.
3. Favor full-length departures and Touchdown Zone landings to maximize altitude when beyond the airport boundary.
4. Minimize touch-and-go operations because they result in a high sound impact on the neighborhoods.
5. No pattern-work before 8am ever, or between the hours of 1pm and 4pm on Sundays and holidays.
We hope that these considerations will help our neighbors to feel respected, especially during this time of elevated impact due to COVID. More people are at home at this time, and shortly more windows will be opened due to the nice weather.
We will constantly be reviewing our behaviors to ensure that we are doing everything we can to be good neighbors.
