When did you know you wanted to fly?
I have been interested in flying and airplanes since I was a young child back in Bulgaria. I remember drawing airplanes all the time, as well as building toy airplanes out of LEGO bricks. I was always told by the adults in my life that I have to join the military and be one of the best in order to become a pilot, so I never realized that being a pilot is a real possibility. It wasn’t until much later when I moved to the United States and started doing some research that I found out that becoming a pilot is a real possibility.

WHAT IS YOUR MAIN GOAL IN AVIATION?
My goal is to eventually work for a large passenger airline, or a cargo operator such as UPS or FedEx. I would love to fly longer international routes to destinations in Europe and Asia.
When and why did you start your training?
I took my first discovery flight back in 2018. For the next year after that flight I took a few more lessons and decided that was what I want to do for the rest of my life. It wasn’t until September 2019 when I quit my job in the civil engineering field and signed up for the
Professional Pilot Program at ATP Flight School. A year later I had all my ratings up to CFII and MEI.
Looking back on your first training, what is one piece of advice you know now that you would have liked to hear then?
I would tell myself, just like I tell my students now “Have fun!” Flying an airplane, and especially learning to fly an airplane in the beginning can be stressful and demanding. Sometimes we forget how fun and amazing it is that we as humans are able to fly though the sky, like we were never meant to do. Looking back I would definitely tell myself to have more fun, because now I realize what an amazing experience it has been.
What do you like to do when you’re not flying?
When I am not flying, I love to spend time with my kids and wife. I have two young kids and it is great to watch them discover the world around them and experience things for the first time. Hopefully one day I will also teach them how to fly. We also love to travel and visit new places and countries.
What drew you to AVIER?
When I first visited AVIER, I quickly realized that it wasn’t a typical flight school. Paul and Esteban were extremely friendly and supportive, and atmosphere they have created in he school is more like a European Cafe than a flight school. Now that I work at AVIER as a flight instructor I appreciate the friendly and relaxed atmosphere even more because I can see that it really benefits the students. It helps make learning to fly less stressful and a lot more fun. It is like being part of a big happy family.
